Frequently asked questions
How do I activate the licence?
Open Avast Driver Updater, go to ☰ Menu ▸ Settings, select the My subscription tab, click Enter activation code, paste the key from your e-mail including the hyphens and click Enter. Step-by-step instructions are in the Instructions tab.
How many PCs can I use it on?
On as many Windows PCs as your chosen option states (1 or 3). You can move the licence to another PC once you stop using it on the original one. PCs with ARM processors are not supported.
What if a new driver causes problems?
Driver Updater backs up your current drivers and creates a Windows restore point before updating. You can then roll the driver back to its previous version (for drivers updated with Driver Updater) or restore your PC to the restore point.
How often does it check my drivers?
Automatically every 7 days, and it notifies you when it finds outdated drivers. You can also run a scan manually at any time.
Do I need Avast antivirus?
No. Driver Updater is a standalone app and works without Avast antivirus. It is not included in Avast Free Antivirus or Avast Premium Security, so it needs its own licence.
Which languages is the app available in?
You can switch the app language in ☰ Menu ▸ Settings ▸ Languages, and the installer lets you pick the setup language in the top-right corner. Besides English, the app is available in Czech, Polish and Hungarian, for example.

Installation and activation
- Open Avast's official installation guide (link below) and click Download Avast Driver Updater to save the avast_driver_updater_online_setup.exe file.
- Right-click the downloaded file, select Run as administrator and click Yes in the User Account Control dialog.
- Change the setup language in the top-right corner if you wish, click Install, wait for the installation to finish and click Continue.
- In the app, go to ☰ Menu ▸ Settings, open the My subscription tab and click Enter activation code.
- Paste the licence key from your e-mail including the hyphens and click Enter.
- Check on the My subscription tab that your subscription is active and when it expires. Then scan your PC and click Update all to update any outdated drivers.
