Frequently asked questions
How do I activate the licence?
On Windows, open Avast Cleanup Premium, hover over the side menu, click Settings, select the My subscription tab, click Enter activation code, paste the code including the hyphens and click Next twice. On a Mac use Insert activation code; on Android go to Account ▸ Already have a subscription? ▸ Use an activation code.
How many devices can I use it on?
On as many devices at the same time as your chosen option states (1, 3, 5 or 10). A multi-device licence works on Windows, Mac and Android, and the app shows how many devices are activated. To switch devices, uninstall the app from the old one, then install and activate it on the new one.
Avast One was installed from avast.com – is that right?
Yes. The installer on the main avast.com page now installs the Avast One app with Cleanup enabled inside it. If you prefer the standalone Avast Cleanup Premium app, download it from the official guide in the Instructions tab – some Cleanup features are still only available in the standalone app.
Do I need Avast antivirus?
No. Cleanup Premium works on its own, without Avast antivirus. It is not included in Avast Premium Security, so it needs its own licence.
Can I undo changes?
Most of them. On Windows, open Undo Center from the side menu and click Undo next to a change. In the settings you choose when backups are created and how long they are kept. Some actions cannot be reversed, though.
Which languages is the app available in?
You can change the language in Settings on the General tab. Besides English, the app is available in Czech, Polish and Hungarian, for example.

Avast Cleanup Premium
Installation and activation
- Open Avast's official installation guide (link below) and download the standalone Avast Cleanup Premium app for Windows (avast_cleanup_online_setup.exe) – the same page has the Mac version and a Google Play link for Android.
- Right-click the downloaded file, select Run as administrator, click Yes in the User Account Control dialog, review the licence agreement and click Install.
- When the installation is finished, open Avast Cleanup Premium, hover over the side menu and click Settings.
- Select the My subscription tab, click Enter activation code, paste the licence key from your e-mail including the hyphens and click Next twice.
- On a Mac, click Insert activation code on the main screen and then Activate; on Android, go to Account ▸ Already have a subscription? ▸ Use an activation code and tap Use this code.
- Check on the My subscription tab that your subscription is active and when it expires. Repeat the steps on your other devices with the same key.
