Windows 10 Home
Windows 10 Home is the home edition of Windows 10 in its final version 22H2, with the familiar desktop, the Windows Security app and Windows Hello sign-in. Regular support ended on 14 October 2025, but you can keep receiving security updates through the Extended Security Updates (ESU) programme, which Microsoft offers until 12 October 2027. The licence activates both the 32-bit and the 64-bit version of Windows 10 Home.

Frequently asked questions
Does Windows 10 still receive updates?
Regular support for Windows 10 ended on 14 October 2025. However, you can enrol a PC running Windows 10 Home, version 22H2, in the Extended Security Updates (ESU) programme – free when you sync your PC settings, for 1,000 Microsoft Rewards points or as a one-time purchase. It then receives critical and important security updates until 12 October 2027.
Is the licence valid for both 32-bit and 64-bit?
Yes, the licence key activates both the 32-bit and the 64-bit version of Windows 10 Home. You choose the architecture when creating the installation media with the Media Creation Tool.
Is the licence transferable?
No. This is an OEM licence that stays tied to the PC on which you activate it – it cannot be moved to another computer.
Can I upgrade to Windows 10 Pro later?
Yes. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Activation, select Change product key and enter a Windows 10 Pro key. The Pro edition adds features such as BitLocker encryption, Remote Desktop and joining a domain.
Can I move to Windows 11?
If your PC meets the Windows 11 hardware requirements, the upgrade to Windows 11 is free – even if the PC is enrolled in the ESU programme.
What language will the system be in?
You choose the language when creating the installation media. You can add further display languages, including Czech, Slovak, Polish and Hungarian, in Settings > Time & Language > Language.

Installation and activation
- If Windows 10 is not yet installed, download the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft's official page and create a USB installation drive (at least 8 GB) or an ISO file – choose the language, edition and 32-bit or 64-bit architecture.
- Boot the computer from the USB drive (change the boot order in BIOS or UEFI if needed) and install Windows 10 Home.
- After installation, open Start > Settings > Update & Security > Activation and click Change product key.
- Enter the 25-character licence key from your e-mail and select Next – Windows activates over the internet.
- Check on the Activation page that the system is activated. To keep receiving security updates, enrol your PC in the ESU programme as described on Microsoft's page.
