Frequently asked questions
How do I activate the licence?
Sign in at central.bitdefender.com (or create a free account), open My Subscriptions, click + Activate with code and enter the code from your e-mail. The code only needs to be activated once – all later installations and reinstallations are managed through your Bitdefender Central account.
How many devices can I protect?
Up to 15 Windows, macOS, Android and iOS devices in any combination. If you stop using a device, remove it in Bitdefender Central to free up its slot for a new one.
How does the VPN work?
Family Pack includes Bitdefender VPN with 200 MB of encrypted traffic per device per day; the server is chosen automatically and the daily limit resets at midnight UTC. For unlimited traffic and a choice of servers, you can add a separate Premium VPN subscription covering up to 10 devices.
Can I use the key to extend my current subscription?
Yes. If you already have a Family Pack subscription for 15 devices, choose Extend current subscription during activation and your remaining days are kept. The combined validity cannot exceed 5 years.
How does Family Pack differ from the newer family plans?
On Bitdefender's website, Family Pack has been replaced by Total Security Family and Premium Security Family, which add features such as a password manager and email protection and, in Premium Security Family, unlimited VPN as well. Family Pack offers real-time protection for up to 15 devices, parental control, scam protection and a VPN with 200 MB per day.
What language is the app in?
You can choose the language of the Windows app in the installer and change it later in the settings; on a Mac, the app follows the system language. Bitdefender Central is available in many languages.

Installation and activation
- If another antivirus is installed on the device, uninstall it first – two security programs running at once can get in each other's way.
- Go to central.bitdefender.com and sign in to your Bitdefender account, or create a new one for free.
- In the left-hand menu, open My Subscriptions, click + Activate with code, enter the licence key from your e-mail and confirm with Activate.
- If Bitdefender asks for billing details to enable automatic renewal, nothing is charged now – a payment would only be taken on renewal when the subscription ends. If the window can be closed, you can skip this step. Should you already have the same subscription, choose Extend current subscription and complete the activation with Confirm activation.
- On the Bitdefender Central dashboard, click Install Bitdefender Products, choose Install in the Security panel and download the installer.
- Run the downloaded file, optionally choose the language in the bottom right-hand corner, accept the Subscription Agreement and click Install. To protect other devices, including Android and iOS phones, send the download link via Protect other devices (QR code, e-mail or copied link).
- When the installation finishes, click Finish and check under My Subscriptions in Bitdefender Central that your Family Pack subscription is active. You can set up parental control in Bitdefender Central under Parental Control.
