Frequently asked questions
How do I activate the licence?
Sign in at central.bitdefender.com (or create a free account), open My Subscriptions, click + Activate with code and enter the code from your e-mail. On Windows, Mac and Android you can also enter the code directly in the Bitdefender VPN app.
How many devices can I use the VPN on?
You can use Premium VPN on up to 10 Windows, macOS, Android and iOS devices at the same time. Devices you no longer use can be removed in Bitdefender Central.
Do I need Bitdefender antivirus to use the VPN?
No. Premium VPN is a separate subscription, and the Bitdefender VPN app can be installed on its own from Bitdefender Central, Google Play or the App Store. If you already use a Bitdefender security product, activating Premium VPN unlocks unlimited traffic and server choice in its VPN.
Can I install the VPN on a router?
No. Bitdefender VPN works through its own apps for Windows, macOS, Android and iOS, and on Chromebooks. It cannot be installed on a router and does not provide configuration files (such as .ovpn or .conf).
Can I use the key to extend my current subscription?
Yes. If your account already holds the same Premium VPN subscription, choose Extend current subscription during activation and your remaining days are kept. The combined validity cannot exceed 5 years.
What language is the app in?
On Windows, you can change the language of Bitdefender VPN in Settings > General > Language; on a Mac, the app follows the system language. Bitdefender Central is available in many languages.

Bitdefender Premium VPN
Installation and activation
- Go to central.bitdefender.com and sign in to your Bitdefender account, or create a new one for free.
- In the left-hand menu, open My Subscriptions, click + Activate with code, enter the licence key from your e-mail and confirm with Activate.
- If Bitdefender asks for billing details to enable automatic renewal, nothing is charged now – a payment would only be taken on renewal when the subscription ends. If the window can be closed, you can skip this step. Should you already have the same subscription, choose Extend current subscription and complete the activation with Confirm activation.
- On the Bitdefender Central dashboard, click Install Bitdefender Products and choose to install the VPN. To set up another computer or phone, send the link via Protect other devices; on Android and iPhone you can also get Bitdefender VPN from Google Play or the App Store.
- On Windows, run bitdefender_vpn.exe, choose your language and click START INSTALLATION. On a Mac, open bitdefender_vpn.dmg, complete the installation and allow the blocked Bitdefender system extension in your security settings.
- Open the app and sign in with the same Bitdefender account in which you activated the code.
- In the app's settings (Settings > My Account), check that your Premium VPN subscription and its expiry date are shown, pick a server in Locations and connect with the ⏻ button.
