Frequently asked questions
How do I activate my licence?
Create a My F-Secure account (or sign in to your existing one), enter the licence key from your e-mail and install the F-Secure app via Add device. See the Instructions tab for the full steps.
How many devices can I use Total on?
As many as your chosen option covers – from 1 to 10 devices. You can mix Windows PCs, Macs and Android and iOS phones and tablets, and share protection with family or friends in your My F-Secure group.
How is Total different from Internet Security?
Total includes everything in Internet Security plus an unlimited VPN, Password Vault, monitoring for leaks of your personal data and Identity Theft Help.
I'm upgrading from Internet Security (formerly SAFE) to Total. Do I need to reinstall the app?
No. For Internet Security and SAFE users, the new Total features appear in the F-Secure app automatically. If you use the standalone F-Secure VPN or ID Protection, download the new F-Secure app.
Can I move my licence to a new device?
Yes. Release the licence from your old device in the F-Secure app under People & Devices or in My F-Secure, then install the app on the new one.
Which languages is the app available in?
The F-Secure app is available in more than 20 languages, including English, Czech, Polish and Hungarian. The language is set from your system during setup, or you can choose it on the setup page; changing it later requires reinstalling.

Installation and activation
- If another antivirus program is installed on your computer, uninstall it first – F-Secure recommends removing conflicting third-party antivirus products.
- Open My F-Secure and select Create new account. Enter your name, e-mail address and password, select Accept and create account and confirm your e-mail address using the link in the activation e-mail. If you already have an account, simply sign in.
- In My F-Secure, select Subscription in the top bar, choose Redeem subscription code from the I want to… menu, enter the licence key from your e-mail, select Continue and confirm the details with Accept.
- Select Add device, choose whose device you want to protect, select This computer and download the installation package. Run it, select Accept and continue to accept the licence terms and follow the on-screen instructions.
- To add a phone or tablet, use Add device as well: choose the device type, send yourself the installation link by e-mail or SMS, install the F-Secure app from the app store and sign in with the same account.
- In the app, open Password Vault, select Get started, create your master password and save the recovery QR code – without it a forgotten master password cannot be recovered. Turn the VPN on with the switch in the VPN section.
- To check activation, open the F-Secure app, select the menu in the top-left corner and choose Subscription – you will see your subscription status and expiry date.
