Frequently asked questions
How do I activate ID Protection?
Create a My F-Secure account (or sign in to your existing one), enter the licence key from your e-mail and install the F-Secure app. When you first open Password Vault, you create a master password and a recovery QR code. See the Instructions tab for the full steps.
How many devices can I use, and how much data can I monitor?
You can use the app on as many devices as your option covers (5 or 10). With a 5-device licence you can monitor up to 5 items of each data type, for example 5 e-mail addresses and 5 payment cards; with a 10-device licence, up to 10.
What if I forget my master password?
The only way to recover it is the recovery QR code you create when setting up Password Vault. For security reasons F-Secure cannot restore master passwords, so keep the QR code somewhere safe.
How do I add data for monitoring?
Your e-mail address is the first item monitored and is also where alerts are sent – remember to confirm it. You can add further items, such as more e-mail addresses, payment cards or your phone number, under ID Monitoring in the F-Secure app or in My F-Secure.
Does ID Protection include antivirus or a VPN?
No. Antivirus, scam protection and a VPN, together with ID Protection, are included in F-Secure Total.
Which languages is the app available in?
The F-Secure app is available in more than 20 languages, including English, Czech, Polish and Hungarian. The language is set from your system during setup, or you can choose it on the setup page; changing it later requires reinstalling.

F-Secure ID Protection
Installation and activation
- Open My F-Secure and select Create new account. Enter your name, e-mail address and password, select Accept and create account and confirm your e-mail address using the link in the activation e-mail. If you already have an account, simply sign in.
- In My F-Secure, select Subscription in the top bar, choose Redeem subscription code from the I want to… menu, enter the licence key from your e-mail, select Continue and confirm the details with Accept.
- Select Add device, choose whose device you want to protect, select This computer and download the installation package. Run it, select Accept and continue to accept the licence terms and follow the on-screen instructions.
- To add a phone or tablet, use Add device as well: choose the device type, send yourself the installation link by e-mail or SMS, install the F-Secure app from the app store and sign in with the same account.
- In the app, open Password Vault, select Get started and Create Master Password, then select Save Recovery QR Code – without it a forgotten master password cannot be recovered.
- For auto-fill, select Autofill in Password Vault, install the extension for Chrome, Edge or Firefox and authorise it with the copied code. Then add the data you want to monitor under ID Monitoring.
- To check activation, open the F-Secure app, select the menu in the top-left corner and choose Subscription – you will see your subscription status and expiry date.
