Product description
Microsoft Windows 8.1 Enterprise
Windows 8.1 Enterprise is the business edition of Windows 8.1 with BitLocker encryption, Client Hyper-V virtualisation and Windows To Go, which lets you start a work environment from a certified USB drive. It runs both Windows Store apps and classic desktop programs. Support for Windows 8.1 ended on 10 January 2023, so the system is best suited to legacy applications, testing and devices that newer versions of Windows do not support. The licence works with both the 32-bit and the 64-bit version.

Installation and activation
- Prepare Windows 8.1 Enterprise installation media (32-bit or 64-bit) – Microsoft no longer offers Windows 8.1 for download. Boot the computer from the media and install the system.
- On the Start screen, type cmd, right-click Command Prompt in the results and choose Run as administrator.
- Enter the command slmgr.vbs /ipk XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX (replace the Xs with the licence key from your e-mail) and press Enter.
- Enter the command slmgr.vbs /ato – Windows will try to activate online, so the computer must be connected to the internet.
- Use slmgr.vbs /dli to display the licence information and confirm that the system is activated.
