Frequently asked questions
Why is the product called SecurePass?
Bitdefender has replaced the original Password Manager with its new password manager, SecurePass. Password Manager reached end of life on 15 June 2026, and SecurePass is its official successor.
How do I activate the licence?
Sign in to your Bitdefender Central account at central.bitdefender.com, open My Subscriptions in the left-hand menu, choose + Activate with code and enter the licence key from your email. Then select SecurePass in the left-hand menu and install the extension for your browser, or the Bitdefender SecurePass app on your phone.
What if I forget my Master Password?
Bitdefender does not store your Master Password. You can reset it with the Recovery Key you receive during setup, so keep the key somewhere safe. If you lose both the password and the key, the account can only be reset with permanent loss of the data in your vault.
Can I bring over passwords from my browser or another manager?
Yes. In the SecurePass settings choose Import passwords and upload the exported file. Supported sources include Bitdefender Password Manager, 1Password, LastPass, Bitwarden, Dashlane and KeePass, as well as Chrome, Edge and Firefox.
Which devices does SecurePass work on?
On Windows and macOS as an extension for Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Safari (macOS only), and on Android and iOS as an app. You can also open your vault on the web at securepass.bitdefender.com. The display language can be changed in the settings.
How do I renew my licence?
Buy a new licence for the same product and, when activating the code in Bitdefender Central, select Extend current subscription. The remaining days are added on, provided the total validity does not exceed 5 years.

Bitdefender SecurePass (formerly Password Manager)
Installation and activation
- Go to central.bitdefender.com and sign in to your Bitdefender Central account, or create a new one.
- In the left-hand menu open My Subscriptions, click + Activate with code, enter the licence key from your email and confirm with Activate.
- On your computer, select SecurePass in the Bitdefender Central left-hand menu, click the icon of your browser (Edge, Chrome, Firefox or Safari) and add Bitdefender SecurePass from the extension store.
- On your phone, open Google Play or the App Store, search for Bitdefender SecurePass and install it.
- In the extension or app, sign in with your Bitdefender Central account, create a strong Master Password and save your Recovery Key (copy it or download it as a PDF).
- We recommend turning off your browser's built-in password manager and importing your existing passwords in the SecurePass settings.
