How do I activate the key?
On McAfee's official activation page, click Enter product key, paste the key from your e-mail and sign in or create a McAfee account. Then follow the on-screen steps to download and install the app. See the Instructions tab for the full procedure.
Does it include antivirus?
No. According to McAfee, Privacy & Identity Guard is its first product focused solely on privacy and identity protection. You can use it on its own or to complement the antivirus or other device protection you already have.
What information does it monitor?
McAfee lists almost 60 types of personal information, such as e-mail addresses, phone numbers, credit cards and bank accounts. However, McAfee notes that not all identity monitoring elements are available in all countries.
How does Online Account Cleanup work?
Once a month it scans for accounts you have created in the past and shows a risk level for each. You then decide which ones to keep and which ones to delete.
Do I have to enter a payment card during activation?
No. During activation McAfee offers to turn on auto-renewal, which requires a card, but you can skip this step by clicking No Thanks. However, McAfee makes some extra benefits available only with auto-renewal turned on.
Can I use the key more than once?
A product key can be redeemed only once. To install the app on other devices, sign in to My Account on the McAfee website and download it from there.

Installation and activation
- Open McAfee's official activation page (link below) and click Enter product key.
- Paste the licence key from your e-mail and enter your e-mail address. If you don't have a McAfee account yet, one will be created for this address; McAfee will e-mail you a 6-digit one-time passcode to verify it.
- McAfee will offer to turn on auto-renewal, which requires a payment card. It is optional – if you don't want it, click No Thanks.
- Follow the on-screen steps to complete activation and download the McAfee app to the device you want to use. McAfee will also e-mail you a download link.
- In the app, add the personal information you want McAfee to monitor (such as your e-mail addresses) and review the identity monitoring and Online Account Cleanup results. You can see your subscription overview in My Account.
