Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate SP1
Installation and activation
- Microsoft no longer offers Windows 7 installation files on its website. Have a Windows 7 SP1 Ultimate installation DVD or USB drive ready in the architecture you want – 32-bit or 64-bit.
- Back up your data. Switching between the 32-bit and 64-bit version is only possible with a clean installation, not by upgrading the existing system.
- Boot the computer from the installation media and follow the setup wizard. When prompted, enter the 25-character product key from the e-mail.
- If you do not enter the key during setup, you typically have 30 days to activate. You can enter it later in Control Panel, in the System window, in the Windows activation section.
- Activate Windows over the internet; if that is not possible, choose telephone activation in the activation wizard.
- Check in the System window that Windows is activated. Keep in mind that without security updates the PC is more vulnerable – Microsoft recommends moving to a supported version of Windows.
