IObit Protected Folder is a simple vault for your private files and folders on Windows. Just drag them into the program window and they are protected by a password – you can hide them, block them from being opened or make them read-only. Without the password, nobody else can get to them. Your licence code arrives by e-mail and is activated right in the program.

Does it work on Windows 11?
The vendor lists support for Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7, Vista, XP and 2000; Windows 11 is not explicitly mentioned.
How many PCs can I use it on?
On as many PCs as your chosen licence option states (1 or 3). The licence is valid for 1 year, which according to IObit's terms runs from the purchase of the code.
Which languages are available?
Protected Folder supports English, Czech, Slovak, Polish and Hungarian, among other languages. To change the language, click the Options icon at the top right, go to User Interface and confirm with Apply.
What if I forget my password?
When you first run the program, you can set a password hint along with your password to help you remember it. You can change the password later in Options.
What happens to my files if I reinstall the program?
Protected Folder doesn't move your files anywhere; it only applies hiding and read or write restrictions to them. After reinstalling the program, the protection is removed and you need to drag the files into the program again.

Installation and activation
- On the official IObit Protected Folder page, click Free Download and save the installer.
- Run the downloaded file and complete the installation wizard.
- When you first start the program, set a master password and, if you like, a password hint – you will need the password every time you access protected files.
- Click Register at the bottom left of the program window, paste the licence code from your e-mail and confirm with Activate Now.
- Drag the files and folders you want to protect into the program window, or add them with the Add button.
- In Options, choose how they are protected – hidden, read access denied or write access denied.
