How many licences do I need?
One Technician licence is intended for a single technician or IT administrator and registers an unlimited number of Windows PCs. The licence can be used for multiple clients of the same technician at the same time.
Do my clients need their own licence?
If AOMEI Backupper Technician is to remain installed on a client's computer after your service ends, the client needs their own licence. Otherwise your licence is enough and you uninstall the program at the end of the service.
Does Technician support Windows Server?
No, the Technician edition is designed for PCs running Windows 11, 10, 8.1/8 and 7. An unlimited number of PCs and servers is covered by the Technician Plus edition.
What does the variant with AOMEI Backupper Central add?
AOMEI Backupper Central lets you remotely manage AOMEI Backupper Technician on an unlimited number of PCs within the LAN from a single console, including remote agent installation and centralised backup and sync. AOMEI also lists Microsoft SQL database backup for this variant.
How do I activate the licence?
Install AOMEI Backupper from the official website and launch it. The registration window opens automatically, or you can open it via Menu > Register. Paste the licence code from your e-mail and click Activate. See the Instructions tab for step-by-step details.

AOMEI Backupper Technician
Installation and activation
- On the official AOMEI Backupper Download Center page, download AOMEI Backupper Technician (Try for Free button).
- Run the downloaded installer, click Next in the wizard and complete the installation. If prompted, restart your computer.
- Launch AOMEI Backupper. The registration window opens automatically; otherwise click Menu > Register.
- Paste the licence code from your e-mail (with no spaces before or after) and click Activate. The computer needs a stable internet connection.
- Computer without internet access: start the program offline and click Register. At aomeitech.com/get-offline-key.html, enter your licence code and the Machine Code shown in the offline registration window, then paste the offline key into the program and click Activate.
- After activation, create your first backup (Backup > System Backup) and prepare rescue media in case Windows fails to start (Tools > Create Bootable Media).
- Create the portable version via Tools > Create Portable Version; on the USB drive, register it with Register.exe and remove the registration with Anti-registration once you have finished.
